Community Gardens of Chester County

Garden Volunteers

The success of our gardens is dependent on the energy and commitment of our garden volunteers. Our volunteers vary in age, sex, race and socio-economic background. They include students, retirees, garden club members, Master Gardeners and community gardeners who want to help others get started.

Who

The program is looking for volunteers who...

When

Dates, times and hours of volunteer work are flexible, although most of our work takes place during spring, summer and fall. All of our projects are well-organized because we know that your time as a volunteer is valuable.

What

Some volunteers work with us on a regular basis and others volunteer for an occasional or specific project. Jobs include “hands-on gardening” such as building beds, fences and gates as well as planting and maintaining the gardens. (All of this work is done with the community gardeners.) Other volunteer tasks may include helping design gardens, sorting seeds, office work or serving on our advisory committee. The program provides all of the tools and garden equipment needed for each project.
